A blueprint: Accelerating local climate action and a green recovery

This event has already taken place and registration is no longer available.

Time: Tuesday 8 December 2020, 2:00 – 3:00 PM (GMT)

Duration: 1 hour

Ashden, ADEPT, Friends of the Earth and a coalition of partners from local government, environmental and research organisations are hosting a free online webinar to launch our blueprint for a locally-based green recovery. The blueprint sets out key policy and engagement asks for national government.

On 9th December the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) will be publishing the 6th Carbon Budget, and this will be accompanied by a report on local delivery of the carbon budget, recognising the important role of councils on climate action.

Our blueprint, if enacted will give local authorities the powers and resources they need to ensure a fair and equitable green recovery.

Our speakers will include:

  • Louise Marix Evans Senior Advisor at CCC and author of ‘Local delivery of the 6th carbon budget’ report
  • Sue Halliwell Director for Planning and Place, Oxfordshire Council
  • Mike Childs Head of Science, Policy and Research, Friends of the Earth
  • Kevin Frea Founder of Climate Emergency UK.

Over 60 councils across the country have already signed up to our Blueprint here, and we’d encourage you to do so as well.

Our local coalition consists of ADEPT, Ashden, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Grantham Institute, LEDNet, PCAN Cities and SOLACE.
