This event was part of London Climate Action Week 2021, the annual event bringing together world-leading climate professionals and communities across London and beyond to find practical solutions to climate change.
This event has already taken place and registration is no longer available.
Time: Wednesday 30 June, 10:00 – 11:00AM (BST)
Duration: 1 hour
Councils are under pressure to tackle the climate and biodiversity emergencies, while also delivering a green recovery from coronavirus. They need to act fast, with practical solutions that bring everyday benefits such as better jobs and clean air, as well as lower emissions.
These proven climate solutions already exist. Right now they are unlocking greener transport, warmer homes, improved community cohesion and much more. But local authorities are under pressure with limited resources, and sometimes lack the skills and expertise to create change. We don’t have time for councils to learn in isolation or act alone.
That’s why Ashden created three regional local authority learning hubs, identifying successful initiatives and showing how they can be quickly adapted and implemented locally.
This seminar will present key findings from the learning hubs that Ashden ran with local authorities and stakeholders from South West of England during April and May 2021 to share learning on large scale home retrofit.
As local authorities start to ramp up retrofit activity through the Government’s Local Authority Delivery Scheme funding, we’ll discuss the challenges and opportunities, showcasing examples of good work in the South West and beyond. We’ll consider what councils should be doing now to make best use of funding opportunities, what support and resources are available and what can be done locally to build up the retrofit supply chain.
We’ll have presentations from (amongst others) Joanne Wheeler, UK Green Building Council and Soren Nellegaard of Retrofitworks, as well as the Scottish Energy Agency who have several years’ experience of delivering area-based retrofit. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
