Join us to discuss how warmer, greener homes can resolve some of society’s biggest issues.
How can upgrading the UK’s crumbling homes tackle poverty and the climate crisis? This November, join us for a thought-provoking evening tackling this important topic. Together, we’ll explore how improving homes can create better physical and mental health, more equal societies, and lower carbon emissions. And we’ll ask how philanthropy can spark and accelerate change.
The need for action.
- 6.3 million UK households experienced fuel poverty in 2023,– up from 4.5 million in 2021.
- 5,000 people died in the winter of 2022/23 due to living in a cold home.
- Children’s health is at risk in cold and damp homes. This makes it harder for them to succeed at school – and creates damaging cycles of poverty.
- 1.5 UK homes a minute need to be improved to meet its own climate targets – but the rate of upgrades is not even close to that.
Join us to be inspired, and share your ideas on the path forward.
How can we create change – and bring immediate and long-term benefits to millions of people? There’s a clear need for more investment of resources and ideas, as well as new collaborations. And for more projects designed with (and tailored to) local communities.
These are all ingredients in a new approach being developed by the MCS Foundation, UK Green Building Council and Ashden. Together, we are developing a new model for creating warmer, greener homes – one that de-risks investment and delivers effective, inclusive solutions.
Please join us to hear more about this new approach – and to share your thoughts on the path forward. The evening will feature insights from expert speakers, and those working directly with communities on the issue. You’ll also have the chance to network with fellow guests over cheese and wine. Speakers will include Alastair Mumford from the MSC Foundation, The Young Foundation and Cara Jenkinson from Ashden.
