People in developing countries are at greatest risk from the climate crisis – a deadly threat they did little to create. Many also go without energy, threatening their health, education, incomes and wellbeing.
Climate solutions can tackle both these problems, creating a fairer world and bringing the worst-off closer to a low-carbon future. We are proud to support innovation in some of the world’s most marginalised communities.
For two decades, we have helped innovators bring clean energy to marginalised people. These organisations have changed hundreds of thousands of lives, helping people learn, earn, cook safely and enjoy their free time.
But one billion people still lack access to energy – and these are the people most at risk from the climate emergency. it’s time to expect more. To demand more. People deserve power, and they deserve it now.
Every year global cities swell in size, while millions more people can afford to travel by car. We support innovation in sustainable buildings and transport, helping create sustainable cities for all.
We confront neglected climate challenges – such as tackling heat stress in the most vulnerable communities, and energy access for refugees. We push forward innovation in natural climate solutions. And we explore some of the key development factors linked to the climate crisis – such as livelihoods [LINK to Powering Better Work] and gender [LINK to gender research].
We need a transformation, one driven by communities and the frontline enterprises and organisations that serve and understand them. We know these innovators have the skills and tools to push things forward. We’ve seen it happen. But real progress will only come with the backing of committed investors and funders, informed policymakers, and supportive charities and NGOs.
If you can help, we want to work with you. We bring connections to frontline organisations and key players in the global climate sector – as well as high-impact stories and films, incisive analysis, and a hunger for radical action.
