For 20 years, climate solutions charity Ashden has supported and spotlighted the brightest climate pioneers from around the world. This year, the 2022 Ashden Awards will showcase innovators transforming the world of work and accelerating the transition to a more inclusive, green economy.
Climate Action at Work: calling all trailblazers
Ashden is calling on climate trailblazers working in the UK and low-income countries to apply for one of six awards showcasing projects that boost green skills and training, and create new decent jobs for thriving, fair and sustainable economies.
Entries are now open until 15 March 2022, with the winners to be announced in late autumn. Entry is free and winners will receive a grant of up to £25,000, while all finalists will enjoy publicity and networking opportunities – including connections to investors, funders and the media.
The climate is changing – and so is our world of work
As we move towards a low-carbon future, everyone’s work will be affected by the huge changes, and challenges, that lie ahead. New green jobs are a glittering prize in the zero carbon transition – a chance to put cash in people’s pockets while upgrading cold and draughty homes in the UK, or bringing clean energy to off-grid villages in Africa or Asia.
So now it’s time for us to come together and build a new world of work, one that tackles injustice and supports people left behind by today’s economies. The 2022 Ashden Awards will boost innovators in the UK and low-income countries doing just this – creating green jobs and delivering the training, connections and resources needed for thriving, fair and sustainable economies.
The awards will also raise ambition and inspire new commitments from those who can support these trailblazers, and energise wider change. Together, we can all create a world of work with justice and sustainability at its heart.
Ashden CEO Harriet Lamb said: “This year Ashden will spotlight the frontline innovators delivering new green jobs and livelihoods and training people and in the skills to create a zero carbon world.”
“We urge all climate innovators to look at the application criteria and see if their initiative could be boosted by an Ashden Award.”
The 2022 Ashden Award categories:
