Ashden helps UK councils deliver climate action with powerful social impact. To make life a little bit easier, we’ve brought together invitations to our upcoming solution-focused webinars, as well as new analysis and inspiring case studies. From warming homes to restoring nature, there’s lots to help council officers to make their climate plans a reality.

Climate webinars from Ashden and our partners

On September 11, a webinar from the Blueprint Coalition will explore the climate and nature opportunities brought by the new Devolution Bill. The event will include presentations from Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Surrey County Council and Friends of Earth, and others.

On September 12, the Ashden Adaptation Network will ask how to engage communities in climate adaptation, with proven examples that have led to improved flood defences and restored green spaces. The event features speakers from Norfolk District Council, The University of Bradford, and Leeds community group Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods.

And on September 19, there’s a chance to hear from the Ashden Award winners and finalists making homes warmer and cheaper to heat. Discover technologies and solutions from Kestrix, Emergent Energy, Housing Associations Charitable Trust and tepeo.

Practical advice and insights to lower carbon

Making UK homes energy efficient is a key climate target. But it’s also vital we prepare properties for hotter, drier summers, and greater flood risks in winter – two consequences of climate change. These challenges can be tackled together, saving time and money. Read more in our new blog.

Half the UK’s carbon reduction ambition can be delivered by the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). How can local authorities support this action? Find out in this guest blog from the Environmental Business Network.

New legislation means local authorities must carry out a deeper, longer consultation before launching a low-traffic neighbourhood or similar scheme. We’re sharing six key issues to consider.

Inspiring climate solutions

Last month we revealed the 2024 Ashden Award winners. You can read more about our three UK winners – and see inspiring films about their work.

  • tepeo’s Zero Emissions Boiler is a new, low-carbon way to warm properties that aren’t right for a heat pump
  • Energise Barnsley is lowering bills for older people in social housing, using the power of solar energy.
  • Cumbria’s Wild Haweswater site has been restored to bring climate benefits, sustainable tourism opportunities, and enhanced flood protection.
