Sustainable Schools

Through campaigns and practical support, we help schools lead the UK's low-carbon transformation

Let’s Go Zero 2030

Let’s Go Zero is a national campaign uniting UK schools working to cut their carbon emissions to zero by 2030. That’s a huge challenge – but transforming our schools will help safeguard the planet for future generations.

Every school that joins will be pledging to work towards a more sustainable future, while also urging the government to support this vital mission. As well as lobbying politicians, the campaign will give school leaders the tools and resources to become more sustainable.

By raising their voices together, schools and their allies will show the overwhelming support for zero carbon classrooms up and down the UK – and how they can be the spark for community action to tackle the climate crisis.

LESS CO2

The LESSCO2 sustainable schools’ campaign was a free energy efficiency programme, available to any school in the UK that wanted to mitigate its impact on climate change and save money, while teaching students the impact of energy use on the environment.

Through a series of half day workshops spread through the year, peer mentoring, expert advice and resources, staff were empowered and equipped to make changes and improvements to their school to reduce their energy usage, save money on bills and lower their CO2 emissions.

Because of the impact of COVID-19 on schools and the successes of our new campaign Let’s Go Zero, LESSCO2 is no longer delivered by Ashden. It is now delivered on a paid for basis by a small team of LESSCO2 mentors.

We remain committed to ensuring schools are part of the transition to the zero-carbon economy, and Let’s Go Zero is how we will achieve this.
